Music producer, selector and community stalwart, Blacker Dread is the walking embodiment of a local legend.
After moving from Jamaica to South London, he joined Sir Coxsone Sound System as a teenager, coining the term “outernational” and starting his first label S.C.O.M along the way.
As a producer, Blacker has worked with some of the biggest names in reggae music, including Dennis Brown, Sugar Minott, Frankie Paul, Junior Reid and Gregory Isaacs.
Blacker was also proprietor of Blacker Dread Muzik Store, as well as co-founder of Brixton Splash music festival.
More recently, he starred in BBC 2's, 'Being Blacker' - an intimate and candid documentary which looks at his incredible life and the social & cultural issues which have forged his path.
